  • 50 ml vodka preferably smooth
  • 15 ml ginger syrup fresh or store-bought
  • half piece lime for juicing
  • 100 ml ginger beer chilled
  • ice plenty ice crushed or cubed
  • 1 slice lime wedge for garnish
  • 1 sprig fresh mint for garnish

Method
 

  1. Place a copper mug in the freezer for a few minutes to chill, then fill it generously with ice so it’s cold and frosty.
  2. Pour 50ml of smooth vodka directly over the ice, listening for the soft splash and watching it settle in.
  3. Add 15ml of fresh ginger syrup, pouring it slowly so it integrates smoothly with the vodka—notice the gentle swirl and the spicy aroma as it mixes.
  4. Squeeze the juice of half a lime directly into the mug, aiming for a bright, citrusy splash that enhances the refreshing aroma.
  5. Top the mug with about 100ml of chilled ginger beer, watching the bubbles rise and fizz as they fill the mug to the brim.
  6. Gently stir the mixture with a bar spoon to combine all the vibrant flavors, creating a harmonious and slightly frothy drink.
  7. Garnish with a fresh lime wedge and a sprig of mint, placing them on the rim for an inviting and aromatic finishing touch.
  8. Serve immediately, enjoying the cold, fizzy, and spicy layers with each refreshing sip.
