  • 1 cup sour cherries (fresh or frozen) pitted if fresh
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 cup ice cubes crushed or whole
  • optional fresh mint leaves for garnish

Method
 

  1. Add sour cherries, simple syrup, and lemon juice to your blender.
  2. Blend on high until the cherries break down and the mixture is smooth with a bright red color, smelling tart and sweet.
  3. Add ice cubes to the blender and secure the lid tightly.
  4. Pulse or blend on high until the mixture is thick, slushy, and reaches your desired icy consistency, about 30-60 seconds.
  5. Pour the slushie into glasses, using a spoon to help fill them if needed, and garnish with fresh mint leaves for a burst of aroma.
  6. Serve immediately with a straw, enjoying the vibrant color and refreshing tart-sweet flavor.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of bourbon or a few fresh berries before blending. Adjust sweetness with more or less simple syrup to taste.
