Gatorade Slushie

This gatorade slushie is a frozen treat made by pouring flavored sports drinks into a freezer-safe container and periodically stirring to create icy, crunchy chunks. The final texture resembles a finely crushed ice with bursts of vibrant fruit flavor, perfect for a refreshing snack or dessert. It captures the icy, nostalgic appeal of childhood popsicles with a simple, hands-off freezing method.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Gatorade (any flavor) chilled

Equipment

  • Freezer-safe container
  • Fork or spoon

Method

  1. Pour the chilled gatorade into a deep, freezer-safe container, spreading it out evenly.
  2. Place the container uncovered in the freezer and set a timer for 30 minutes.
  3. After 30 minutes, remove the container and use a fork or spoon to scrape and stir the partially frozen mixture, breaking up icy chunks.
  4. Return the container to the freezer, repeating the stirring every 30 minutes to prevent large ice crystals from forming, for a total of 2 to 3 hours.
  5. Once the mixture has reached a consistency of finely crushed ice with some soft, scoopable chunks, the slushie is ready to serve.
  6. Serve the icy gatorade in glasses, garnished with fresh fruit or a colorful straw if desired, and enjoy immediately for the best crunch.

Notes

For a smoother texture, re-blend the slushie briefly before serving. You can customize flavors by choosing different gatorade varieties or mixing multiple flavors together. Adjust freezing times based on your freezer's temperature for best results.
