Ingredients

  • 3 cups ripe watermelon chunks seeded if necessary
  • 1 cup ice cubes or more if thicker consistency is desired
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice for brightness
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup optional, for added sweetness

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Chop ripe watermelon into chunks, removing any seeds if necessary, and measure out about 3 cups. Place the watermelon in the blender.
  2. Add ice cubes to the blender, starting with about one cup. This will help achieve a thick, icy texture.
  3. Pour in a tablespoon of lemon or lime juice to brighten the flavor of the slushie.
  4. If desired, add a tablespoon of honey or agave syrup for extra sweetness, especially if your watermelon is less sweet.
  5. Secure the lid on the blender and blend on high speed, until the mixture is completely smooth and icy, with a silky texture and vibrant pink color.
  6. Pour the slushie into glasses, and if desired, garnish with a small watermelon wedge or a mint sprig for a fresh look.

Notes

Adjust the amount of ice for desired thickness. Serve immediately for the best icy, refreshing effect.
